Dear Members and Friends of SLBC,
We welcome fall as summer has come to an end. I hope you took the time to rest, refresh and renew yourself. I trust you enjoyed quiet time with the Lord through the warm days, both in prayer and in his word as you listened to his voice. I am also hoping that your summer presented opportunities to invite members and friends of the church family for fellowship time, either at a backyard barbecue, playing an outdoor game--such as croquet, or corn hole--or for a hike on one of Maine's beautiful trails. I encourage you to continue fellowship this fall, especially since we should have more time to engage now that vacations have ended. As you know, the church advisory board is promoting fellowship events each month here at the church.
As we all come back indoors, let's make it our aim to love people around us where they are at, and as we build bonds of friendship and trust, share the hope we have in Jesus. Let us also find ways to make inroads into our community--I believe we are one of the best kept secrets in the area! Where else can people connect with a close-knit, country church, as well as traditional ministry methods and worship? Many today seek a larger church, with a worship team and a plethora of choices for various ministries. However, we unashamedly offer what God enables us as well as value each and every person that God allows us to minister to at their point of need. This is a great privilege, and one that we should not take for granted. No one is just a face in the crowd at SLBC. Instead, they are loved, valued, supported and given the attention that a close-knit congregation allows.
Take the time to reach out to people that are not already part of a local church, or are new to the area and are looking for a new church home.Â
Finally, please be sure to check our website and Facebook page frequently. Remember that our calendar link lists all birthdays, anniversaries, services, and special events. Please share these resources with those that you think might be interested in our church.
